Free and almost free summer movies are a great way to keep the gets entertained and occupied for awhile. After all, when the weather gets hot sometimes the best escape can be a cold movie theater.

Regal's Summer Movie Express 2017

Regal movie theaters (as well as United Artists and Edwards theaters) are showing almost free summer movies for kids June through August in 2017.

Showtimes are 10:00 a.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday and cost $1. There's a full listing of Regal's summer movies for kids so you can plan out which ones you want to see. More

Cinemark's Summer Movie Clubhouse 2017

During the months of June and August, Cinemark will be showing cheap summer movies that the kids will love.

Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse 2017 will show ​G and PG movies including The Secret Life of Pets, The LEGO Batman Movie, Trolls, Shrek the Third, Goosebumps, The Iron Giant, Hotel Transylvania 2, Megamind, The Angry Birds Movie, and Sing.

Tickets are $1 per show or $5 for all ten movies. You'll want to check with your ​local Cinemark to find out which days and times the movies are playing.

Paragon Theaters will have free summer movies at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, running from June 13 through August 17, 2017.

These are the free movies available this year: The Peanuts Movie, Trolls, RIO 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children, The Book of Life, Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Road Chip, Home, and Shrek the Third.

Harkins movie theatres are showing $1 kids movies this summer for 10 weeks, for their annual summer movie fun program.

Day and time of the summer movies depend on your specific location but they start around the end of May to the beginning of June.

Here's what's playing this summer, Mr. Popper's Penguins, Trolls, The Secret Life of Pets, The Batman LEGO Movie, The Angry Birds Movie, Norm of the North, Kung Fu Panda 3, Storks, Ice Age: Collision Course, and Rock Dog.

Alama Drafthouse is having their annual summer kids camp back in 2017.

100% of the ticket prices for these kids movies go to local non-profits. You can choose to donate $1-$3 a ticket.

These movies are G and PG movies and they'll be showing The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Minions, Matilda, Zathura: A Space Adventure, The Iron Giant, Trolls, Muppets from Space, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, Song of the Sea, Speed Racer, Jumanji, and The Secret Life of Pets.

Classic Cinemas is having their annual Wednesday morning movie series this summer June 7 - August 9.

Admission is $1 and the movie starts at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday mornings. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and there will be characters, games, and activities.

If you have a group of 15 or more you can to ensure your spot.

The PG-rated movies they are showing this summer include ​​Kung Fu Panda 3, Storks, Ice Age: Collision Course, The Secret Life of Pets, Monster Trucks, Trolls, Sing, Rock Dog,  and two surprise movies.

Georgia Theatre Company's Summer Kid Show Series 2017

Georgia Theatre Company is showing their summer kid show series again this year from June 6 to July 27.

Doors open at 9:15 a.m. and shows start at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Admission is $1.50, drinks are $1.50, and popcorn is $1.50.

The series includes The Angry Birds Movie, Trolls, Kung Fu Panda 3, Ice Age: Collision Course, The Secret Life of Pets, Sing, Storks, and Kubo and the Two Strings.

Metro Theatres is having a summer kids film series on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, or just Wednesdays depending on your location, June 13 - August 15.

Admission is $2 and all shows are at 10:00 a.m. They'll be showing Kung Fu Panda 3, The Angry Birds Movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Boys on the Hood, The LEGO Batman Movie, Sing, The Secret Life of Pets, Storks, Dr. Suess' The Lorax, The Peanuts Movie, and Trolls.

For $1 you can see a movie at Ultra Star Cinemas this summer. They play Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m.

Movies that are playing are Minions, Alvin & the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, Peanuts Movie, Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Road Chip, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Rise of the Guardians, RIO 2, Night at the Museum Secret of the Tomb, Horton Hears a Who, and Walking With Dinosaurs.

Megaplex Theatres are showing cheap summer movies for kids and it will only cost you $10 for a pass that will get you into all 10 movies. The movies start in June and wrap up in August.

You'll need to check with for the schedule of movie times. They also have sensory friendly movie showings this year at special times.

The free summer movies at Cinemaworld are shown each day, starting in June and ending in July. The movies are completely free for kids but adults will have to pay $2 or donate to a charity in exchange for admission.
