What’s better than a cash back rewards credit card? A cash back rewards credit card that comes with perks. Before we get to the extra perks the Discover It card provides, let’s talk about the rewards program.

Cardholders earn five percent cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases in categories that rotate each quarter. All other purchases earn 1 percent cash back. This includes purchases above $1,500 in bonus categories. Rather than an initial signup bonus, Discover automatically matches all the cash back you earn at the end of your first year.

Your rewards never expire and can be redeemed for any amount at any time. You can even redeem your rewards in any amount on an order.

Now for the perks. With the latest data breaches, consumers must always be on guard for the use of their personal information. Discover provides free social security number alerts, letting you know if your most sensitive piece of identifying information is found on risky websites.

You don’t have to worry about someone using your lost or stolen card. The Freeze It feature allows you to freeze your account through the mobile app or website to prevent new transactions. If you later find your credit card, you can simply unfreeze it to start using it again. This saves you a call to customer service to have a new credit card sent to you.

Staying on top of your credit score is important for your credit health. You’ll get a free FICO score each month with your credit card statement.

Important Pricing: The Discover it Card comes with a zero percent APR for 14 months on purchases and balance transfers. After that, the regular APR is 11.99 to 23.99 percent. There’s no annual fee.
