One of the top job sites and the largest online job site based in the U.S. is CareerBuilder . They have partnered with 140 newspapers to provide local as well as national job listings. CareerBuilder powers the career sites for more than 1,000 companies and leading online portals such as MSN and AOL. They have a presence in more than 60 markets in the U.S., Europe, Canada, Asia, and South America. Additionally, more than 24 million job seekers every month utilize CareerBuilder to find new jobs and get career advice.

Search Options

Methodically organized, you can search CareerBuilder  by city, state, zip code, industry, company, or job category. The advanced search option allows you to narrow down your search by the type of colleges degrees you have, salary range, type of employment, and the date the job was listed.

You can also exclude , , and companies that don’t interest you. CareerBuilder lets you create job alerts so that jobs that meet your criteria can be emailed to you as soon as they are posted. The site is also programmed to use the criteria you enter to recommend jobs you might otherwise overlook.

Very user-friendly, CareerBuilder will upload your resume and show you job listings that match your experience. Other tools such as salary calculators and career descriptions are available.

CareerBuilder also lets you save jobs, resumes, and in your private account and offers educational information such as how to protect yourself from online fraud scams.

How to Post Your Resume

CareerBuilder will upload your resume  from a file, Dropbox, Google Drive, and any dot.DOC; dot.DOCX; PDF; RDF; TXT; ODT, or WPS up to 1000kb. They do not accept images or scanned documents. 

You can post up to three different resumes and cover letters, and apply directly for jobs online. You also have the option to select career fields so employers can contact you directly.

You can also decide who can, and who can not view your resume. Through your private account, you’ll be able to see when your applications are viewed and how you stack up against the competition.

Explore Tool

The CareerBuilder's Explore Career Tool is a comprehensive option that drills down to the details. It allows you to search (or browse) all jobs to get particular information relevant to your job search.

Available information includes:

  • Salary ranges for all jobs
  • How salaries compare to other average salaries
  • What occupations pay over time
  • Most employment opportunities listed by geographic location
  • Core skills and standout skills needed for every job
  • Education level typically required

Part-Time Jobs

If you're a stay at home Mom, student, or just don't' want to work full-time, part-time,  and seasonal jobs are also listed on CareerBuilder. You can search for part-time jobs according to categories that include location, keyword, type of job, and most recently posted jobs. If you use the Advanced Search option, you'll be able to find jobs by required degree, salary range, type of employment, and you can even enter a search within a certain radius of your desired location.
